Haytor Triple Challenge

The iconic Haytor climb was first used as a ‘mountain top finish’ in the Tour of Britain back in 2013, when a young Simon Yates, riding for Great Britain won the stage and Sir Bradley Wiggins, fresh from Tour de France and Olympic victory just the year before won the race overall. Thousands of amateur riders tackle it each year via a different route on one of the country’s top sportives, the Dartmoor Classic.

This is a challenge to test those climbing legs – ride up to the top of Haytor not once but 3 times! To give you an idea of the challenge, the ‘main’ climb from Bovey Tracey fire station directly up to the top car park at Haytor is 5.8km (3.6 miles). You gain 351 metres (1151 feet). the climb averages 6.1%, with sections as steep as 14.1%. Whichever way you climb the top is at 1292 feet. (Stats from Veloviewer)

To complete this challenge you have to climb up to the top car park at Haytor 3 times, 3 different ways in one ride.

Choose 3 different ascents from this list – in any order;

*Bovey Tracey Firestation – past Ullacombe Farm – Haytor

*Bickington-Haytor

*Brimley Lane – Green Lane – Haytor

*Bovey Tracey Fire station – Trendlebeer – Haytor

*Liverton – Ilsington-Haytor
